If you are a student, faculty, or staff with MSU Billings or City College, log in to your My Info account, click on the Parking Services button, then click on 鈥淕o.鈥 From the Parking Portal, click on 鈥淕et Permits.鈥 Complete and verify your customer information, then purchase your permit. Permits may be mailed or picked up at the MSUB Parking Office during business hours. 

Permits may also be purchased at the Parking Office on campus with cash or check. Please bring your license plate information for all vehicles you would like to link to your account. Your license plate is essential to sell you a permit.

Yes, Section 503.7.2 of Parking Policy states, 鈥淎 valid University-issued parking permit, along with a disability placard and/or designated license plate, is required to utilize a disability parking space on the University and City College Campuses.鈥

Online students don鈥檛 need to purchase a permit unless they are planning to park on campus for any reason, in which case, they will need to purchase a permit.

If you lose your permit, please report it missing to the Parking Services Office and stop by the office to fill out a Lost Permit Form. There may be a replacement fee. 

You are responsible to report your permit lost or missing to the Parking Office and obtain a replacement BEFORE you park on campus without a permit.

Parking on campus without displaying a permit can result in citations at the owner/drivers expense.

Section 503.7.4 states, 鈥淎ll authorized construction vehicles parking on either the University or City College Campus are required to have a valid permit.鈥

Please visit the Parking Office on campus to get a Construction Permit.

Yes, Payroll Deduction can be cancelled, but the original permit will need to be returned to the Parking Office before cancellation is authorized.

You can link up to 8 vehicles to your permit. However, the permit needs to be displayed visibly in the vehicle that is parked on campus to be valid.

 

A current parking permit authorizes parking on campus, it does not guarantee a space. When large events are happening on campus, email reminders may be sent out giving notice that parking may be impacted. It is your responsibility to arrive early and find a valid parking space.

Yes, you can purchase a permit with unpaid citations, however, please note that after 3 unpaid citations accumulate on your account, your vehicle is at risk of being towed at the owner/driver expense, with or without a purchased permit on your parking account.

Student permits are valid in all the Gold/Student lots at the Main and City College campuses and the MSUB Parking Garage.

Staff permits are valid in the staff designated parking areas, general student lots, and the MSUB Parking Garage on both Main and City College Campuses.

Vehicles may share a single parking permit; however, only one vehicle associated with a parking permit may be parked on university property at one time. Up to eight vehicles may be linked to a single parking permit.

Faculty & Staff can sign up for payroll deduction by the Docusign form sent out in August or fill out the Payroll Deduction form in the Parking Office. YOU MUST BE FULL TIME AND RECEIVE BENEFITS TO QUALIFY. Payroll Deduction takes 1 or 18 payments out of your paycheck for the total amount of your parking permit. If you are starting later in the year, the deductions and amounts may vary.

Refunds on permits are allowable, but will be decided on a case by case basis. Permits MUST be returned to the Parking Office before a refund will be considered. A refund amount will be determined by the type of permit and the date it was returned.

***Please note that if you owe any money to MSUB in unpaid fees or past due balances, your permit refund will be applied to those fees first, and any remaining will be refunded to you***

Parking

 

  • Yes, you can bring more than 1 vehicle to campus, but if you would like to park both in the lot at the same time, you will need 2 permits per our policy that permits must be displayed in vehicles when parked on campus.

Please contact the Parking Office if you have a vehicle that has broken down on campus as it is part of our policy that vehicles parked on campus must be in good operating condition. Vehicles in violation will be towed at owner/driver expense.

If your vehicle is wrecked or is being repaired and you need to take another car to campus, please make sure to grab your permit out of your vehicle before you take it to a tow yard or an autobody shop.

It is your responsibility to access your permit and register a new or temporary vehicle on campus. Temporary or replacement permits will not be issued due to failure of accessing and retaining your permit. A replacement fee may apply to replace your current permit.

If you will be driving a rental or temporary vehicle on campus, please see the Parking Office or register your vehicle on your Parking Account through the My Info portal online.

If you cannot access your permit but will be getting your car back with the permit at a later date, you will either need to buy a new permit for the duration of that period, or park of campus on the street.

No, the reserved veteran spaces near the COE, are reserved for the Bureau of Veteran Affairs office visitors. Parking in those spaces is strictly prohibited unless given permission by their office.

Their reserved spaces are routinely enforced, and citations can occur from parking there without prior approval from their office.

Our university parking lots are enforced Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm. Parking from 5pm-7am throughout the week, and all day on weekends is free in general student lots and the MSUB Parking Garage.

We do not have any free parking areas on campus lots as every lot requires a valid permit.

Street parking near the university can be found on Poly Dr, Mountain View Blvd, or Pryor Ave. Please be aware of parking in 鈥淣o Parking Zones鈥 as citations may apply on shared streets with our campus.

Please park your motorcycle in designated MOTORCYCLE areas in our student lots. Please locate the MSUB Parking Map to find a space. 

***Please know that motorcycles require a special permit to park on campus. Please see the Parking Office, or go online through your My Info for more detail***

Section 503.13 of the Parking Policy states, 鈥淏icycles must be locked/secured to approved bike racks located on campus. Bicycles may not be locked on trees, fences, and poles.鈥

Section 503.13 of the Parking Policy states, 鈥淏icycles are not required to have a parking permit.鈥

Section 503.8 of the Parking Policy states, 鈥淰ehicles may not be left on campus during summer or winter breaks without approval of the Parking Services Department. Vehicles left without approval will be towed at the owner鈥檚 expense."

To fill out a Vehicle Registration Form, please see the University Police Department鈥檚 admin, and purchase a valid permit for the duration your car will be parked.

Section 503.15 of the Parking Policy states, 鈥淒uring class breaks and exceptional circumstances, the Parking Services Department will provide parking garage storage for vehicles with prior authorization. Visit the Parking Services Department for authorization and instructions.鈥

To fill out a Vehicle Registration Form please visit the University Police Department and purchase a valid permit from the Parking Office for the duration your car will be parked in the garage if you don鈥檛 have a permit already.

 

Visitors & Event Parking

If your event is happening from 8am-5pm, please contact the event coordinator that sent out parking instructions or the Parking Office at 406-657-1704 for information.

If your event ocurrs after 5pm, parking in general student lots and the MSUB Parking Garage is open to the public. However, our lots are still maintained with Enforcement after hours to cite Improper Parking, parking in No Parking Zones, parking in Reserved spaces, parking on grass, in bus lanes, etc. Please make yourself familiar with our parking map and where to find the best place for you to park and arrive early to secure a legal parking space.

Citations/Appeals

 

  • You received a citation because you violated one or more of our parking rules/regulations. Please see our Parking Regulations page to familiarize yourself with MSUB鈥檚 parking requirements. Parking Regulations | MSU Billings
  • No, the Parking Office is not obligated to offer everyone a free warning on citations throughout any part of the year.
  • A warning citation may be issued near the beginning of the semester as a courtesy, urging you to purchase a permit, but our office cannot always issue a warning to everyone at the same time.
  • It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to purchase a valid permit BEFORE you park on campus and check the expiration on your validator to ensure that you are validly parking on campus property to avoid citations.
    • Complaints sent in regarding not receiving a warning before a citation are not valid appeals.
  • Citations can be paid online through your My Info account, or in the Parking Office during normal business hours from Monday 鈥 Friday, from 8am-5pm with cash or check.
  • If you are a visitor on campus and don鈥檛 have a My Info to pay a citation, please use the link " to pay your citation online. If you would rather send a check, please use the orange envelope to send in payment for your citation. You can also stop by the Parking Office to pay with cash or check during our office business hours.
  • Yes, you can send in an appeal on your citation. However, your appeal must be sent in through your My Info portal and be sent within 7 calendar days of your citation鈥檚 issuance.
  • Appeals are decided on by a Citation Appeals Committee and are processed every Monday.
  • Please note that appeals are not an alternative to following parking regulations on campus.
  • Appeals are specific to the citation situation. However, our office considers your account history with former citations and appeals, unpaid citations, if you have a history of purchasing a permit and following regulations, and the severity of the violation cited.
  • Dismissal of citations based on employment status are not guaranteed.
  • Everyone who parks on campus is subject to the Parking Office鈥檚 Rules and Regulations.
  • If you have been cited it is your responsibility to pay the citation or send in an appeal within the 7-day issuance of the citation, regardless of faculty/staff/student/visitor/alumni/retiree status.
