326.1 Purpose and Scope
Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿ÚÃâ·Ñ (University) is committed to maintaining a safe and secure living and learning environment. This policy provides general guideline regarding weapons possession, transportation and storage on any University property.
326.2 Policy
In general, weapons and ammunition of any kind are not permitted on University property, in any University facility, or at any University functions. Storing of weapons and ammunition in personal vehicles, or within the Residence Halls, is strictly prohibited.
With the exception of authorized law enforcement personnel, all firearms, ammunition, weapons, fireworks, explosives, noxious materials, incendiary devices, dangerous instruments, pellet guns of any kind, rifles, blow dart guns, paint ball guns, or other dangerous weapons are strictly prohibited from the Residence Halls and all other University property or buildings. Switchblade knives, bayonets, and all concealable weapons with blades over three (3) inches in length are also prohibited on both campuses and within the Residence Halls at any time.
The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿ÚÃâ·Ñ Police Department (Department) will maintain a Weapons Storage Facility (Armory) for the safekeeping and proper storage of firearms for University students, faculty and staff. Any variance from this policy requires prior approval from the Chief of Police, or their designee.
326.3 Transportation and Storage of Firearms in the Weapons Storage Facility
Firearms being transported onto University property for storage in the Armory, or being retrieved from the Armory, must be in a case that conceals them from view.
Following the guidelines and procedures established in Department Policy 327 – Weapons Storage Facility (Armory), weapons are allowed to be stored in the Armory for up to one year.
Although the Armory is available twenty-four hours a day, it is recommended that weapons be checked in or out between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. After-hours access is subject to delay due to other calls for service that may take priority.
